Service Fusion supports barcode scanning! Users can utilize USB barcode scanners plugged into their computers (PC or Mac) to add barcodes to new or existing products and services. Barcode scanning can facilitate creating estimates and jobs, or purchase and inventory orders, especially in situations where users may not be sure of the part number or exact product/service name. The Worker App users are able to use their camera within the Service Fusion Application as a barcode scanner as well.

When adding a product or service to an estimate or job, users will be familiar with the procedure of typing in part of the product or service name, description, part number, etc and Service Fusion searching the catalogs and returning any matches on what was searched. This has been enhanced to include the SKU, UPC, and Code fields. Typing in a SKU, UPC, or Code will add the product or service if there is just one match, or will present the familiar drop down list to select from if there are multiple matches.

Additionally, instead of typing in the product or service name, description, part number, UPC, SKU, or code, users can scan the barcode using the USB scanner plugged into their computer. Scanning a code multiple times will add the item to the estimate, job, purchase/inventory order multiple times. (A future enhancement is planned to have the item present one time and to change the quantity of that single item.)
This functionality is extended to Purchase Orders and Inventory Orders. When adding a product with a barcode to a Purchase or Inventory Order, the user can either manually type in the UPC or SKU or use the barcode scanner plugged into their computer.

If needed, product and service catalogs can be re-imported to include SKU (products) and Codes (services).
