Service Fusion is excited to offer card readers for our FusionPay customers using the Stripe processor through our partners at PaySimple. There are many benefits to using a card reader out in the field, such as:
- Convenience: The card readers are easy to use, and seamlessly integrates with the Service Fusion Field Worker App.
- Cost-Effectiveness: Enjoy the lower transaction rates compared to "Card Not Present" (CNP) transactions.
- Security: Transactions conducted with the card present significantly reduce the risk of fraud, ensuring more secure payment processing. It also offers security to your customer by bypassing the need to type in their card information to accept payment.
- Efficiency: Technicians in the field can process payments instantly on-site, significantly saving time and simplifying the payment collection process.
To use the card reader with the Service Fusion Field Worker App, the FusionPay 1.5 App will need to be installed to your device. This installation serves as an ancillary app to facilitate card reader use within the standard Field Worker App:
How to Setup the M2 Card Reader
To set up a new card reader, make sure the device is fully charged, then turn it on. When turned on, the LED lights on the front will light up and the reader will beep twice. Then, enable Bluetooth on the device that the card reader will be paired with. The reader will wait for a Bluetooth connection for 5 minutes before turning off.
Please Note: It is recommend to pair only one device with a card reader.
Using the M2 Card Reader in the Service Fusion App
Using the card reader to accept payment within the Service Fusion Field Worker App will follow the standard job workflow used today. Navigate to My Work within the app and select the job ready to accept payment.
Once the job has been selected, click the Invoice tab at the bottom of the page.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and select the applicable button. If the job has not been completed (taking a deposit), select the Apply Deposit button. If the job has been completed, select the Finalize Invoice button.
Upon navigating to the Payments screen, there will be a new option to select called "Credit/Debit Card" with a FusionPay logo. This will only be visible for users utilizing FusionPay by Stripe.
After selecting this option, the Service Fusion app will attempt to find the card reader using the Bluetooth connection. Once found, it will be selectable from the Paired Devices list.
Select the card reader to be taken to the payment page. Swipe, insert, or tap the card being used, then select Apply Payment. The page will transition to a loading page while the payment processes before landing on the Payment Received page.
